Weekly Writing Challenge Entry
Here is my entry in the Weekly Writers Challenge. This week’s challenge was to tell a story in 50 words or less:
It was a team effort, and he was the one letting them down. She knew it in her heart, and it ached within her as she watched him try so hard, yet miss the mark. She loved him extraordinarily, even though at times he was merely ordinary. Her sweet son.

Very nice.
But no one is MERELY ordinary.
RYC: thanks for the great comment. I appreciate the encouragement. It’s nice to know (some) people are reading my blog and not (necessarily) rolling their eyes about how nuts I am.
For a lot of the more important things in life, the effort counts more than the results, so she has nothing to worry about.
Very nice!
Very good. It is hard for a mother to say this, and you are honest and courageous within yourself to recgonize this.
As much as I would love to think my son is talented with a pencil, crayons, markers and paper like his dad, I have to admit that I think he took after me in that area. And it’s hard to say, because I wanted him so much to have artistic ability with pencil and paper.
I am so glad that his artistry comes out in many other forms.
Hoo, boy, can I relate, but don’t tell my son.
Very good! I can relate to this also. My son was the one who stood in the outfield drawing pictures in the dust. He was oblivious to the game going on around him.
